Bringing EU in Turkey – a Network of European Journalists is a project implemented by the Federation of the Turkish Journalists with the partnership of eRomania Gateway (eRG) from Romania and European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) from Belgium. The overall aim of the project is to increase the local public awareness about the EU integration process in Turkey, with the support of an informed and objective network of EU affairs journalists. Within the project, at least 70 Turkish journalists (audio-visual and written media) from the local media located in 7 regions of Turkey will be trained.
Project activities include:
- creation and development of an informal network of Turkish and Romanian journalists and experts;
- training on EU affairs (institutions, policies, enlargement process, Turkey’s European accession process, decision making process at EU level, etc.);
- organization of five thematic videoconferences Ankara-Istanbul-Bucharest and related online forums and debates;

- organization of a study visit in Brussels for 7 local journalists from Turkey.

The project supports a better information and involvement of the public opinion in Turkey in the accession process. It provides accessible information (less technical, less politicized and user friendly) to the local mass media, coming in direct contact with its purposes and needs.
It also contributes to an increased visibility of the European Union in Turkey, by increasing the role of Turkish journalists in stimulating public debates and disseminating both accurate and objective information about Turkey’s accession to EU.
